Mango Basil Smatcha

With summer time comes the fruit of the earth's labour: tropical fruit, fresh herbs, sunshine and warm rays.  I love eating by the seasons and couldn't help noticing the juiciest mangoes and the most fragrant basil at the Union Square Green Market to add on to my shopping list this week.  Green tea and smoothies have been staples in my diet for as long as I can remember.  July is the month of matcha and smoothies so I am very happy to share today's recipe in celebration of SMATCHA month with PANATEA!

Chlorophyll and amino acids give matcha its unique rich, earthy flavour.  For anyone interested in trying matcha but intimidated by its initial vegetal, astringent taste - smatchas are a great way to introduce these fine green tea powders into your diet.   This smatcha bowl is perfect as a summer time refresher or an afternoon pick-me-up.  Plus, adding a scoop of matcha to an afternoon smoothie does wonders for the body, mind and soul.  For all you matcha and smoothie lovers - I hope you enjoy my smatcha recipe below! 


  • Blend 1/2 cup of coconut water with one scoop of PANATEA matcha.  
  • Add mango, banana and basil leaves and blend until smooth.
  • Transfer mixture into a bowl and top with coconut flakes and goji berries.
  • Serve chilled and enjoy!  


  • 1 scoop of PANATEA matcha 
  • 1/2 cup coconut water
  • 1/4 cup mango
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 2 basil leaves
  • coconut flakes
  • dried goji berries
