I like to spend Sundays recharging... That usually involves starting the day off with an hour of yoga, followed by a long luxurious shower. Then I throw on a pretty sundress and a spritz of perfume before heading off to brunch with a few close friends. It's so simple, but this little routine on my Sundays have become one of my favourite things that I look forward to almost every week.

It's been a couple of months since the last time I saw Chloe during our brunch date in Berlin, but we're finally back in New York at the same time!  We spent Sunday in Williamsburg at the most gorgeous cafe called Loosie's Kitchen. It took a while for me to get here from Manhattan with all the train delays this weekend, but even with that AND the wait that came with getting a table (you can be smarter than us and make a reservation :), I don't regret the time spent waiting and getting here for one bit at all! It helps when you have good company.

This place is honestly a haven for plant and design lovers. It would be my dream garden if I had one. I literally wanted EVERYTHING here from plants and the cushions to the giant bathtub of herbs. We waited in the adorable outdoor garden sipping on coffee and matcha while taking pictures, soaking in sunshine and swinging on macrame chairs hanging from the ceiling.

We were seated about 40 minutes later and I adored the way the menu matched the colours and playfulness of the interior design of the wall.  Along with my cold brew and Chloe's watermelon matcha (which tasted very interesting - earthy and fruity!), we also got Loosie's fried chicken and waffles with fresh berries and spicy maple syrup and the grain bowl packed with shiitake and oyster mushrooms, purple kale, organic quinoa, beets, cucumber raita and mint topped soft poached egg. So yum.

It was the most beautiful and relaxing afternoons I've had in such a in a long time.  If you happen to be visiting Brooklyn, I hope you can give this place a visit! :)

Hello from Spain, everyone!  I'm currently in Madrid on a 6 hour layover (*sigh*) and thought this would be a great time to catch up on a little on this blog.  I have so many photos I want to share from my recent trip to Portugal, but I still have some Berlin posts that I want to first catch up on in attempt to er, comply with my OCD-ness/post my journey in chronological order! :)  I've had these photos edited for a while but for some reason, I've just had no words to go along with it.  I went through a huge creative block recently, but I think I'm finally getting my feelers back (I hope).  The most important thing I'm reminding myself to do everyday right now is to live in the present, sensitize and take it easy one day at a time.

So, back to the food.  You guys might remember my trip to Germany a few months ago.  I was in Berlin for a couple of weeks with Tara Stiles for Strala yoga and I ended up hanging out with my friend Chloe (@_tinychloe) from NYC who was studying abroad in Berlin!  When Chloe suggested that we have brunch at ORA, she explained that the place is an old pharmacy transformed into a cafe and cocktail bar.  I browsed some pictures online and thought, "cool concept", but the photos DO NOT do this place justice because my jaw literally dropped to the floor as soon as I walked in the door (which was actually hard to find).  But seriously, it's that stunning.

What we ordered:

-2 x cappuccinos
-cinnamon roll (SO GOOD!)
-sourdough toast topped with kale, walnut and poached egg
-cauliflower salad

The coffee was strong.  The food was delicious.  There was zero wait time around mid-morning (I think we went around 11ish?).  Our server was also very attentive (and he was really cute, too).

Overall, this was such a great place to hang out and definitely MUST visit if you're a brunch (or cocktail) person.  We munched and chatted here for a few hours before Chloe got me to leave by mentioning ice cream.

Liebes Bisschen in Pankow

Liebes Bisschen Pankow bagel coffee

While spending a couple of weeks in Berlin back in November for my Strala Yoga Teacher Training with Tara Stiles last year, there was a little cafe down the street from our studio called Liebes Bisschen that quickly became one of the Strala gang's favourite breakfast/lunch/coffee spots in Pankow.

Liebes Bisschen Pankow coffee smoothie

Along with really amazing coffees and smoothies, this places has some pretty amazing pastries and bagel sandwiches too.  It's almost like having a little piece of New York in Berlin.  The staff were so friendly and helpful, always super patient and ready to feed a group of hungry yogis at lunch time.

Smoothies with matcha? YES PLEASE.

Liebes Bisschen Pankow lunch coffee bagel

This was one of my favourites: bagel sandwich with hummus, walnuts, arugula, sun-dried tomatoes and AVOCADO.

Liebes Bisschen Pankow coffee cortado

And you can't forget the coffee - they make a killer cortado.  I love that they give a little piece of Mari biscuit on the side.  I haven't had these since I was a child!

Liebes Bisschen Pankow juice

Also, the nicest thing happened.  A group of strala yoga friends and I popped in for our usual lunch break one day when our server suddenly handed us glasses of freshly pressed juice shots. It was honestly the kindest gesture and it made me love the place and all the wonderful people who worked there even more! I was so sad when I had to leave Berlin, but I will definitely be back on my next visit.  Until next time, Liebes Bisschen!

House of Small Wander Berlin

First off, if there's one thing I have to say about House of Small Wonder, it's that this place is TOTALLY plant-goals.  Instagrammers are in love with this spiral staircase... and after you soak in the beauty of the ambiance the moment you walk through the door, it's pretty easy to see why.  Whoever designed this place definitely knew how to attract Instagrammers.

After much thought, instead of going for the traditional brunch stuff you normally see on every menu, we decided to go the more Japanese route.  I'm a little embarrassed to admit I've haven't been to the location in Brooklyn (yet), but hey, at least I made it to House of Small Wonder in Berlin!  I've been seeing this place all over Instagram and I can't even explain how excited I was for this visit.  On the table we have onigiri rice balls with miso and purple shiso and soboro don with a side of coffee and genmaicha.  If I have to be completely honest, the coffee was good, but the food was average. Nothing bad, but nothing amazing either.  I can't say how good the traditional brunch menu is.  Maybe we should have gotten 50/50 on brunch and Japanese dishes.  Oh well, next time we'll know.  Anyways, the interior, decor and ambiance is amazing. It's like being inside a giant plant filled dollhouse - a perfect spot for a date or coffee with friends filled with endless photo opportunities.  This place is definitely worth a visit for the gram, but if you're a foodie, there are a lot of yummier places to check out in Berlin.
