There are so many reasons why I love Chinese New Year: hong bao, dumplings, Chinese food, fireworks and family festivies. It's been a very long time since I've spent Spring Festival in China and I'm so happy to finally have a chance to spend this special holiday with my family in Xiamen.

I'm pretty sure sure people don't eat egg tarts for breakfast on Chinese New Year, but for some reason, I woke up really, really wanting to eat them and went on this crazy hunt this morning before our family lunch. Trying to find a store open on Chinese New Year is almost like going shopping in Italy during siesta! I was almost about to give up and head home but by some miracle, I found a tiny bakery stand with the best Chinese egg tarts I could dream of on this Chinese New Year day. But enough about egg tarts now. Wherever you are in the world, I wish you a wonderful Lunar New Year full of good fortune, health and happiness!
