Papaya smoothie bowl with banana & watermelon

With summer time in full swing in South Africa, papayas are everywhere and I am taking advantage of every second I can enjoy these beautiful juicy fruit in my mouth! Deliciously sweet with a slightly musky undertone and a soft buttery consistency, papaya was once an exotic fruit reputably called the "fruit of the angels" by Christopher Columbus. Beautiful rich orange coloured flesh and black peppery seeds greet your eyes when the fruit is cut open. Not many people realize this, but the seeds are actually entire edible! Papaya isn't just delicious to eat, it also helps the body in fighting heart disease and aids digestion.

Oh, and it's also packed with antioxidant nutrients like carotenes, vitamins, fiber, folate, potassium, copper, magnesium and flavonoids.

This is a super simple and delicious three ingredient smoothie bowl that will get your morning started just right. I hope you enjoy!


  • papaya
  • banana
  • watermelon
  • 1 tbsp plain soy yogurt
  • ice and water


  • Combine papaya, banana, soy yogurt, ice and water in blender and blend until smoothie. 
  • Top with chunks of watermelon and sliced bananas. Serve immediately and enjoy!
