Cyclamen Açaí Bowl

A little while ago, the kind folks at Sambazon sent me (what now seems like) a lifetime supply of delicious organic açaí berry packs.  I go through these little berries pretty fast so when I looked in my freezer this morning, I was pleased to discover that I still have many many packs left.  Even freezing cold winter months in New York can't tear me away from smoothie bowls!  I like to play with the variety of fruits and toppings I blend in my smoothies, and today's breakfast was inspired by the beautiful fuchsia cyclamens in my living room.  I see food very much like art.  My plate (or bowl) is my canvas, and I like to let the forms, textures and colours of every food tell it's own visual story.  Recipe is below - I hope you enjoy!

INGREDIENTS (serves 1)

For the smoothie
1 Sambazon açaí smoothie pack
1 ripe banana
handful of blackberries
handful of strawberries
1/2 cup almond milk

For the toppings
coconut flakes
dried rose petals
cyclamen flower


  1. In a blender, combine one banana, one Sambazon acai pack, blackberries, strawberries and almond milk and blend well.
  2. Transfer to a large bowl.
  3. Top with fresh blackberries, coconut flakes and sprinkle with a tiny hint of dried roses and garnish with a cyclamen flower. Enjoy!
