Visiting Amsterdam had always been on the bucket list as one of the many, many, many things I've wanted to do. Naturally, you can imagine my excitement when I finally got the opportunity to jump on the plane to visit the land of the great Dutch Masters. I met up with my friend Rozanna on the first day of my visit and she showed me around some of the main parts of the city. Chinatown, bubble tea, street markets and shopping consumed most of our day and it was certainly most enjoyable. Coming from Florence, Amsterdam had such a different and refreshing feel. Public transportation was so much more efficient (sorry, Italy :) and I fell in love with stroopwafels. The weather was cool and calming. My visit to Amsterdam was during the fall, so I can only imagine how much more beautiful it must be in the spring and summer. Growing up in a country that spoke Afrikaans, I never thought there was any point of learning a language that derived of Dutch origin up until now. I will admit it did come in a little handy!
